Hello!
My name is
Arisa Ruangsirikulchai.
I am a geologist with a passion for energy, natural resources, and geospatial sciences.
My career began at a geoscience camp in Thailand during high school. Creating a geological map for the first time ignited my interest in spatial thinking and the thrill of discovery.
While at the University of Texas at Austin, I focused on geomorphology, marine geology/geophysics, and remote sensing. I utilized lidar, satellite imagery, and hydrodynamic modeling to study a barrier island’s response to a hurricane. I also gained experience in modeling coastal inundation in Florida, assisting with flume experimental projects on turbidity currents, and collecting and analyzing multibeam bathymetry, sonar, and seismic data in the Gulf of Mexico.
Currently, I work as a geologist at PTT Exploration and Production in Bangkok. I conduct petroleum basin analyses to aid exploration campaigns. I construct geological maps and estimate resources and reserves for field development using seismic, core, well logging, and other petrophysical data. I collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and contractors to design and monitor drilling activities that optimize costs and prioritize safety. My responsibilities have taken me to onshore and offshore drilling rigs and production platforms.
In my free time, I enjoy learning about wildlife, reading science non-fictions, scuba diving, and hiking.
